Positano, Italy seems to be one of those destinations that everyone wants to visit, and its picturesque town is one of the most photographed places on the planet.
Each year on my annual visit to the Amalfi Coast, I make sure I schedule in a day trip to Positano. It starts with boarding a boat in Amalfi and whizzing along the stunning coastline. Disembarking in Positano, I like to wander around the town first, popping in and out of boutiques, and getting lost amongst the alleyways whilst keeping cool with a peach ice lolly from one of the cafes.
After winding my way to the top of Positano to catch a glimpse of the bay below, I descend back down to the beach to sunbathe and swim. It is quite simply a perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Positano is busy, and alway seems quite a few degrees hotter than Amalfi for some bizarre reason, so be prepared with plenty of suncream and the fact you may have to squeeze in between other sunbathers on the beach. The pebble beach gets HOT, so flip flops are also a must to allow you to make it from your beach towel to the water without burning the soles of your feet!
Once the sun falls behind the hill early evening, a quick trip to another cafe for a giant bowl of frozen yoghurt and fresh fruit is purchased before boarding the boat back to Amalfi as the sun sets, creating a perfect orange glow and making one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world even more amazing.
Don’t miss a day trip to Positano if you’re on the Amalfi Coast, and go get lost in its winding streets.
