There’s something about winter and Christmas that makes me want to visit every cafe and chocolate store in London until I’ve found the best hot chocolate there is to find. I’ve been taste testing my way around a few spots, but I just couldn’t find a hot chocolate that I could confidently declare the winner.
So I thought, you know what, I’ll just make my own! And that is exactly what I did. I like my hot chocolate, thick, Italian style, so you can eat it with a spoon if you fancy. None of that thin, milky tasting, powdered chocolate rubbish, no thank you. After much Google and Pinterest searching of hot chocolate recipes, I came across a recipe that I knew would be THE ONE. Why the confidence you ask? Well, the recipe was created by chocolatier Jacques Torres, and being the his chocolate store in Tribeca NYC, is one of my all time favs, AND the fact I drank one of the best hot chocolate’s ever at his store, I knew I’d found my recipe.
If you’re like me, and you like rich, thick, eat off a spoon hot chocolate then you’ll love this. I promise it’s The Best Hot Chocolate Recipe you’ll ever try. If you like your hot chocolate to be a little more subtle, a little more tame, just add more milk to the mixture.
Jacques also says that the key to perfection is boiling the milk TWICE. Once when you’re heating it up, and again when your ingredients are all blended and you’re about to serve it. This will make the flavour kick-arse good.
Enjoy, apologies for any weight gain, but honestly, it’ll be worth it!
