Can you believe Christmas is over already? It seems merely hours ago that I was uploading Christmas songs to my iPod (of which none were allowed to be played during the 2.5 hour drive out of London), throwing clothes in a bag and squeezing gifts into the back of the car.
The festive period was spent with The Boy Next Door’s family. Two very excited nieces and a nephew meant present opening lasted four hours due to what was literally a mountain of gifts under the tree.
A traditional turkey dinner was followed by River Cafe dessert favourites: Chocolate Nemesis and Lemon Tart, made by TBND’s foodie father. Christmas crackers complete with terrible jokes and paper hats and everyone slumped on sofas by 8.30pm.
All these things make a successful and lovely Christmas, reminding us all how lucky we are to have people to laugh and enjoy this time with.
I must have been very, very good this year because I have three bags full of gifts sitting upstairs in the guest bedroom at TBND’s fathers house. I can’t wait to get them back to London and spread them out, taking time to admire everything from the Japanese mayonnaise to my new Nike trainers.
If you also found Father Christmas was super generous this year yet there are gifts amongst the pile that you know you won’t use or need, then a quick Google search will give you contact details for charities that are more than happy to take them off your hands and give them to others less fortunate.
I hope you all had a great Christmas with whoever and wherever you celebrated this year.
