I love Halloween, love, love, love! Any excuse to dress up or carve a pumpkin. We’d had no plans to celebrate, but at the eleventh hour we decided that in fact we should do something fun, and quickly Whatsapp’d our friends to invite them over.
We had a plan, to have friends over for food and drinks, and then make our way to Dinerama in Shoreditch. What we didnt have, was a lot of time. 24 hours in fact. We decorated the sitting room, made jelly shots in syringes (thank you Amazon Prime for speedy delivery!) and stacked up take-out coffee cups for some Mulled Wine To-Go en route to Shoreditch.
And to really get into the spirit (no pun intended) of things, we all agreed some dressing up was a must. If I’d had more time I would have totally gone as a Zombie Pop Star, I mean I have a gold sequin hot pants playsuit at the ready, and how perfect would that have been! Maybe next year. Instead, we created a lot of blood and gore on our faces and that would have to suffice for Halloween 2016.
Multiple drinks and nachos later, we grabbed our Mulled Wine (and brandy) to-go cups and head to the Tube, jumping onboard towards Old Street. Halloween is the best time to be on the Tube, I mean, the costumes! Wow! So many people were dressed up, and surprisingly someone had actually dressed as a clown. Pretty mad/brave considering all the creepy clown sightings that have been in the news lately. This particular clown on our tube had a cackle that could give you nightmares.
We spent our night at Dinerama, spotting brilliant costumes, from a group of fifteen sheep and their shepherd, to a unicorn-man! I’m so glad London is finally getting onboard with the fun that is Halloween!
On October 31st, I waited impatiently all day until nightfall, and then placed our Jack-o-Lantern outside the cobweb decorated front door. Finally there was a knock on the door, I grabbed my cauldron of sweets and flung open the door to two of the sweetest little Trick-or-Treaters. I’m not sure who was more excited, them or me! We had more Trick-or-Treaters than I could keep count of, and it totally made my night!
I hope you all had a fun Halloween, ate candy and dressed up. Life’s too short to miss these fun celebrations. Now bring on Guy Fawkes tomorrow!
