Hey guys, it’s the freakin’ weekend and as Bob Marley would say, the sun is shining, the weather is sweet! London is beaming with sun this morning, which is perfect timing as I’m off to an outdoor event in Kings Cross. I definitely need to leave myself enough time to fake tan my legs before I leave the house today, as these lily white pins could be responsible for causing someone to go blind from their glowing reflection.
If you don’t have plans, and you’re in London, wondering what you should do with your Saturday afternoon, then I have a very good suggestion for you. The Magnum Pleasure Store in Covent Garden. Ice cream on a sunny day is always a good idea, but a personalised ice cream on a sunny day? That’s the best idea. Ever.
My friend Cath invited me along to join her in some personalised Magnum making last Saturday afternoon, and it took me about .05 seconds to reply ‘YES PLEASE!’.
Arriving at the Magnum Pleasure Store, there’s a process you go through to get your Magnum looking and tasting just how you want it. It starts with paying £4.50. Yeah, yeah, I know, not as cheap as diving into the freezer at a corner store and picking out a Magnum, but then they don’t come with black lava salt and crushed blueberries!
You’re allowed to choose three toppings. This is not an easy task. Certainly when you’re someone like me that doesn’t find making decisions easy at the best of times. There are like a gazillion delicious looking toppings to choose from, so I narrowed mine down to honey comb, crushed blueberries and black lava salt. I was too busy stressing over my toppings to even see what Cath chose.
Then the dipping begins! Choosing between milk, dark or white chocolate, your ice cream is dipped in a pot of the melted stuff, and I have to wonder if any of the workers have dipped a finger in when no one’s been looking. I mean, I would.
Your toppings are then all shook up in a shaker, and sprinkled on top of your ice cream.
And just to be sure that there was enough chocolate on our ice cream, the grand finale is another choice of milk, dark, or white chocolate drizzle.
Voila! Our ice creams were ready, and I had no time for small talk at this point, I just needed to sink my teeth into my Magnum immediately.
Cath was not allowed to indulge until the obligatory photo was taken. Thank you Cath ;o)
And after this final shot, it was time. I didn’t come to the Magnum Pleasure Store just to look at my creation!
It was love at first bite. And that Black Lava Salt? Yes. You simply must choose this topping.
Such a fun thing to do, even if eating it was over in a lightning flash moment. And today that Magnum Pleasure Store is calling your name over in Covent Garden, so get going, what on earth are you waiting for?
