I’d read about Foxlow many times, but it wasn’t until I saw an Instagram of the Elvis Presley Sandwich that I was completely convinced I needed to book a table.
It was a chilly Sunday as we drove over to Foxlow in Clerkenwell, but a snowstorm wouldn’t have kept me away. I was about to eat a dessert that included Candied Bacon, and because of that very thought, I’d have snowboarded there if I needed to.
We arrived around lunchtime, so we missed the rush of guests that generally seemed to turn up an hour after us. It was nice to have a slightly quieter vibe in the restaurant, it was Sunday after all.
Drinks ordered, we perused the menu and both settled on the Sunday Roast. Because, what beats a roast on a Sunday? Nothing.
Our food arrived quickly, and my stomach grumbled in delight at the pile of beef, veg and yorkshire pudding. We pretty much devoured our meals within minutes, because all that chew your food slowly business goes right out the window when we’re hungry! The roast, whilst not the best I’ve tried, was still utterly tasty and I’d not be opposed to devouring it again.
The other good thing about gobbling up lunch so quickly and greedily is that it meant the dessert menu was put in front of us quicker. And that is what I was there for! The Elvis Presley Sandwich for me and the Chocolate and Popcorn Soft Serve Sundae for The Boy Next Door.
It arrived. A tower of sliced brioche fried with cinnamon sugar, topped with peanut butter and banana compote, peanut sauce, pieces of candied bacon and a big old scoop of soft serve vanilla ice cream in the centre.
Look at him! Isn’t he beautiful! And he was. The soft serve ice cream cut down the richness of the dessert, and I had no problem finishing every little morsel on the plate.
What was also delicious, was the Chocolate and Popcorn Ice Cream Sundae. How could it be anything but?!
There are so many awesome items on Foxlow’s menu that you really need to go check it out for yourself. Foxlow’s website is here so you can find out locations and opening times.
