Brunch is my absolute favourite meal to eat. Brunch on a Sunday with friends, at a Kiwi owned restaurant, is pretty much perfection. We’d all dined at Caravan Kings Cross before, so decided to try the shiny new location of Caravan Bankside.
The building that Caravan Bankside is situated in is stunning, with a warehouse feel to the place, and lots of windows to flood light into the restaurant. Long wooden dining tables make this the perfect place to dine with a large group of friends.
We started out with drinks, coffees, bloody mary’s and juices. Again, can I just say that Kiwis just know how to make a proper coffee. Yes, yes, I know I might be sounding all patriotic and proud, but this readers, is a fact. New Zealand created the flat white (Don’t believe any Aussie that tells you they created it. They didn’t.), so we know a thing or two about good coffee.
The brunch menu has something for everyone, with menu items from oat granola with salted coconut yoghurt, pistachios and pickled sultanas to slow roast pork belly with a kimchi pancake, gochujang ketchup and duck egg. My options were a little more limited being gluten intolerant, so I sadly couldn’t order the coconut bread with lemon curd cream cheese and blackberries! Instead I went for the aubergine puree, poached eggs, preserved lemon gremolata, sumac and yoghurt with a side of gluten free toast. Yum!
Caravan Bankside is such a great spot for a weekend brunch, or a brunch any day of the week for that matter. They also have an all day menu, and are open til 10.30pm, so they’ve got you covered any time of the day.
Let me know what you order if you pop in to eat!
