Sunday morning started with Birthday Cake flavoured M&M’s for breakfast, in bed. It was going to be a good day!
Finally getting up and ready for the day, we focused on the most important thing for a Sunday. Where we were going to eat lunch.
Burgers were agreed upon, and having eaten at most of the recommended spots, there were just a couple of places left on our list to try.
Bukowski Grill was to be our destination. We’d heard good things about their burgers, but for whatever reason we’d never tried one. But this was to be the day we would finally see what all the fuss was about.
With two locations in London, we head to their restaurant located in Brixton Village, where I’d met up with friends the day before for lunch at Casa Morita. Two days in a row at Brixton Village, but I wasn’t complaining. The village is an amazing place to visit, with so many food choices, that you could visit every weekend for 6 months and still not be bored.
For those out of London, or those that are yet to visit, I thought this little video I made might give you an idea of what Brixton Village and its surrounding streets look like….
Arriving at Bukowski, we sat down and scanned the menu.
Burger choices were made, sides were picked and a milkshake was ordered.
We decided to share the Toffee Popcorn Milkshake, and it was delicious. Never one to usually order a milkshake with lunch, I’m glad we decided to rebel on this occasion.
I had chosen the ‘Fat Gringo’ – a beef patty, topped with Monterrey Jack cheese and candied bacon, jalapeño mustard, red onions, tomato, lettuce and a smoked pickle. TBND went for the ‘Obese Gringo’, the same as my burger, but two beef patties. Mine admittedly looked a little less interesting due to them not having gluten free buns, but you gluten consumers get to enjoy your burger between a deliciously soft brioche bun.
Even with the lack of burger bun, it was still so bloody delicious!
The Obese Gringo, one big ol’ burger right there!
And one very happy customer!
We shared some chips, and we both agree they are some of the better tasting fries we’ve eaten in burger restaurants. Organic, triple cooked and fried in beef dripping, you can’t really go wrong with that.
Just a few bits of salad left over on my plate, but apart from that, we demolished the lot. Now that Bukowski is right up there as one of our favourite burger spots, this is going to make it even more difficult to decide which burger joint to pay a visit to next time a craving sets in.
We settled the bill, and wandered off around Brixton Village, and out into the Sunday sunshine, bellies full, but extremely happy. We’ll be back Bukowski!
