There’s less than a month until Christmas, and there’s more than a month’s worth of Christmas events to attend in London. It’s almost a full time job co-ordinating diaries to fit all this festive fun in! If you’re up for visiting ALL Christmas events like moi, than you must add South Pole Saloon in Brixton to your list.
We popped down last weekend for a quick bite to eat. Being there during the day meant it was a little quieter, but I imagine the party goes off once night falls!
The set up is fab! It’s like walking into some sort of Texan cowboy town, that’s been hit by a mysterious snow blizzard.
There are various seating areas and bars at South Pole Saloon, with one tent serving food from a bunch of delicious vendors.
Papa’s Pickles, a social enterprise cooking South Indian food while working with unemployed women from these communities, smelt super good as we wandered by.
It took ALL our willpower not to order anything at Dip & Flip. We were trying to be good and eat something healthy, but their gravy covered burgers came with a plastic glove so you could pick the messy goodness up, and that was why I wanted one so bad. I wanted to eat a burger with a plastic glove. Yup. Imagine how many Instagram likes that would have received.
So we turned back around and ordered at Papi’s Pickles, and OH MY was their food delicious!!
Finishing up our food, we wandered around the venue, checking out the different areas and bars and the set up is so fun and so different to the other festive markets going on in London right now, that it’s definitely worth a visit to Brixton.
South Pole Saloon is open until December 23rd, so there’s plenty of time to get a date in your diary, somewhere between Winter Wonderland and ice skating at Somerset House. More info here.
