COLUMBIA ROAD AT CHRISTMAS

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times.  London is the prettiest city in the world during the festive season.  Even New York City doesn’t compare in my opinion.  London does Christmas so well!

I have always loved Christmas, from choosing and wrapping gifts, to struggling to fall asleep as a child, hoping to hear Santa sneak into the house.  I love it all, Christmas cake, Christmas decorations, Christmas lights, Christmas movies.  All of it.

I’ve been ticking off my London Christmas to-do list, making sure I see all the lights and drink all the mulled wine.  Columbia Road at Christmas time is also a must visit.  We stopped by a couple of weekends ago, just before it was closing for the afternoon, and the street was heaving with people buying everything from trees to mistletoe.

We shoved our way through people strolled along eyeing up the wreaths and the berries, as people passed us with Christmas trees over their shoulders, fireman lift style.  If you’re wanting to decorate your place with anything festive and plant related, Columbia Road is the place you need to head to this Sunday.

It will be busy, there will be people and puppies everywhere.  So I advise either indulging in a mulled wine (or something stronger) before you make your way into the crowds, or perhaps afterwards to calm the nerves.  Either way, embrace the Christmas madness, and enjoy the smell of the hundreds of Christmas trees.

Happy weekend x

  1. Love your post on Christmas in London and your words paint this wonderful picture of fun and busyness. Mulled wine….where in New Zealand would I find mulled wine unless I make it, but on the otherhand we do have sunshine and BBQ’s.
Thanks again for your wonderful post and the many others that I have enjoyed throughout the year, please keep it up if you can…I’d miss them.
Merry Christmas to you and the boy nextdoor.

    • Glenda thank you so much for your lovely message! Some days I wonder why I keep writing my blog, but moments like this make it all worth it, I really appreciate your words! Christmas in London is magical, and you are right about having to make your own mulled wine, I did exactly that on one trip home to New Zealand. Enjoy the sunshine and bbq’s, those things are fantastic too and a summer Christmas has so many positives too! Happy Christmas to you and your family x
